  • Final Results – US Finn Nationals Day 3

Final Results – US Finn Nationals Day 3

The final day of the US Finn Nationals started with a bleak outlook of no wind and sailors floating on Biscayne Bay.  After almost an hour of delay, the wind picked up to 6-8knots and further built to 10-14 knots of wind.  The first race had a general recall and a disqualification on the second start but after the four legs of the leeward finish course, Rodion Mazin crossed the finish line first with Jack Jennings crossing second and Fabio Prada coming in third.  The 2nd race of the day also was a general recall and after a second clean start and with the wind picking up, Henry Sprague crossed the line first, followed by Rob McMillan and Andrew Kern.   The final race of the day saw Rodion Mazin finishing first followed by Jack Jennings and Pedro Trouche.  After results were all tallied, the final award went to Rodion Mazin for 2025 US National Champion, followed by Rob McMillan, and Pedro Trouche.   (Featured Photo)  Congrats to all the winners and participants!   Special thanks to Key Biscayne Yacht Club for running a great event and to all the KBYC volunteers who supported the competitors.

  • Day 1 – US Finn Nationals 2025

    Day 1 – US Finn Nationals 2025

The first day started with strong winds in the 15-20 knot range.  22 sailors started at the start line, but 20 finished the first race.  With a capsize and catastrophic damage to his boat, Hans Claesson  (US 155) was forced to retire after the first race.  19 sailors continued to sail three races and after tough competition, Pedro Trouche (BRA 53) leads the field with Rodion Mazin (USA 16) followed by our IFA president and guest from Australia, Rob McMillan (AUS 2).  Nikita Mazin (USA 7) is in 4th, followed by Jack Jennings (USA 81) in 5th, Phillip Ramming  (USA 19) in 6th, Scott Griffiths (USA 1138) in 7th, Fabio Prada (BRA 305) in 8th, Andrew Kern (USA 741) in 9th, and Peter Commette (USA 245) rounding off the top 10.  Two more days of competition with a forecast of lower wind conditions should provide more challenges to the US Finn National Regatta.

  • 2025 East Region Finn Championship Regatta

2025 East Region Finn Championship Regatta

After discussing the schedule with the Cazenovia fleet, it was decided to move the Toilet Bowl Regatta to August 15-17 and elevate the regatta to a major event by holding the Finn Northeast Championship at the same time.  This will be a major event for the North East.  The NOR is expected to be published by April 1st.  This will fit nicely with the Wickford Regatta on Jun 7-8 which will be a good warm up for the North East Regional Finn Championship/Toilet Bowl Regatta.  The Classic Fleet in Connecticut is planning to invite all Finn’s to their Fall Regatta.  More information will follow once the Fleet Captain trades his skis for a tiller and the ice melts on the Lakes.
