The first day started with strong winds in the 15-20 knot range. 22 sailors started at the start line, but 20 finished the first race. With a capsize and catastrophic damage to his boat, Hans Claesson (US 155) was forced to retire after the first race. 19 sailors continued to sail three races and after tough competition, Pedro Trouche (BRA 53) leads the field with Rodion Mazin (USA 16) followed by our IFA president and guest from Australia, Rob McMillan (AUS 2). Nikita Mazin (USA 7) is in 4th, followed by Jack Jennings (USA 81) in 5th, Phillip Ramming (USA 19) in 6th, Scott Griffiths (USA 1138) in 7th, Fabio Prada (BRA 305) in 8th, Andrew Kern (USA 741) in 9th, and Peter Commette (USA 245) rounding off the top 10. Two more days of competition with a forecast of lower wind conditions should provide more challenges to the US Finn National Regatta.
