2024 Finn North America Championship Regatta Summary And Results

The 2024 Finn North American Championship Regatta closed with a third day of heavy wind sailing.  The winds blew from the northeast between 15-18 knots with gusts in the range of 25-30 knots over the three day period, making it a challenging regatta for all.  Thirty one sailors registered for the event with twenty four sailing out to the start line on day 1 and a brave twelve sailor starting on the third day.    The top finishers were decided after two days of racing and six completed races.   The top junior sailor for NA is James Golden from Annapolis Yacht Club .  The top Legend sailor is Phillip Ramming from Newport Harbor Yacht Club.  The top three finishers are Pedro Trouche (BRA 53), Jack Jennings (USA 81), and the overall NA Championship goes to Rodion Mazin (UKR 16) representing the US Coast Guard.  Congratulations to Rodion for the top spot and to all Finn competitors!

It is also worth mentioning that two new Finn Association members sailed their first Finn Regatta this weekend – Joe Dillier and John Hourihan.   They both had a great time and it was fantastic seeing them enjoy the regatta and want to come back for more next year!

Happy Holidays and see you next year in Key Biscayne YC.  Many thanks to Dave Martin of Coconut Grove Yacht Club for organizing the regatta.  Special thanks to John F Dane, John Hourihan, Fabio Prada, and Dave Martin for their support that made this even possible.  Extra special thanks to the Nancy R. and Steve Herman and the entire Race committee without whom the racing would not be possible in these challenging conditions.
