ABYC Memorial Day Weekend Regatta

10- Finns traveled to ABYC for the Memorial Day weekend regatta in Long Beach. 6 races were run over two days with breeze mostly in the 6-12 knot range with slight chop on Saturday with a building breeze and lighter winds on Sunday. Saturday after racing Finn sailors enjoyed the burger bash and the ABYC hospitality sitting aorund the fire ring sharing stories of sailing past. Jim Lawson, racing his souped-up Vanguard w/ a fast new “One” sailmaker mainsail was in the noise most every race, sailing consistently to finish third overall. Eric Anderson made the trek down from the Bay area (after training w/ Bronze Olympian Caleb Paine for a week) to duke it out w/ Mike Dorgan taking 2nd overall with Dorgan winning the weekend w/ scores of 2,1,1,1,2,1. Peter Connally came back from hand surgery to win a race Sunday, happy to be back in the Finn! Next regatta Coronado Yacht Club Summer regatta June 16-17th.
